We understand that we are responsible for the health of your "Best Friend" and will be faithful to both you and your family.

Our mission is to provide advanced medicine and compassionate care to both you and your pets. Each member of our highly experienced staff has been trained extensively. We are proud to have met the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association(AAHA). Our doctors are also members of the Central Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Association. Dr. Carastro is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.

Our entire staff wants you and your family to feel welcome when you visit our hospital. We want you to feel comfortable and encourage you to ask questions about your pet's health. Our staff strives to provide a welcoming, client-centered atmosphere and to have employee's who are sympathetic to your needs. We hope to gain your trust just as we have gained others' over the years.

Douglas Mitchell

Practice Manager

A native of Pensacola, Florida, Mr. Mitchell has over 20 years of leadership and management experience in the government and private sectors.

After graduating from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS with a degree in Theatre Arts, Mr. Mitchell studied acting in London, England at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. As actors do, he gravitated to the restaurant industry where he began his career in management.

Mr. Mitchell moved to Prattville in 2001 where he lives with his two children, his Golden Retriever "Lily" and Jack Russel mix "Gus". In his spare time, Mr. Mitchell enjoys participating in triathlons, running marathons, cycling, cooking, reading, and is a board member on the Prattville Creative and Performing Arts Council.


Abigail Weaver

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Abigail attended Victory Baptist School in Millbrook and graduated in 2012. She then began her journey into college at Auburn University Montgomery, but moved to California. In 2017, she completed her degree and graduated with honors at California's PIMA Medical Institute. When she returned to Alabama she met the love of her life, McCain Weaver, and married in April 2019. She has worked at Payson Place Farms, Vanity Fur Groomers, Cuyamaca Animal Hospital/Furry Friends Resort, Blueridge Animal Clinic and joined us at Cobbs Ford Pet Health Center in April 2019! She has had a love for animals all of her life and has 4 dogs of her own.
